UPDATE: Pedestrian Involved Accident with Serious Injury on Houston Avenue

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a serious injury traffic collision involving a pedestrian that occurred on Houston Avenue, near the intersection of Charlotte Street. The accident occurred on August 12, 2026, at 8:11p.m, Wednesday night.

It was reported that a sixty-nine-year-old male driver of a white van struck a forty-two-year-old female pedestrian that was lying in the roadway. Deputies contacted the driver of the vehicle on scene who stated that he witnessed a male in a white shirt and dark pants standing over an object in the roadway. Witnesses reported that a female was lying in the roadway and the male moved out of the roadway and the female pedestrian was struck.

After further investigation, investigators discovered that the female pedestrian was involved in a domestic disturbance with the male before being struck by the vehicle.

This collision is still under investigation. Additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.

According to Coroner Miley, the pedestrian did succumb to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The pedestrian was identified as forty-two-year-old Janita Parker. According to Coroner Lonnie Miley, the next of kin has been notified.

Pedestrian Involved Accident with Serious Injury on Houston Avenue

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a serious injury traffic collision involving a pedestrian that occurred on Houston Avenue, near the intersection of Charlotte Street. The accident occurred on August 12, 2026, just before 8:11p.m, Wednesday night.

It was reported that a sixty-nine-year-old male driver of a white van struck a forty-two-year-old female pedestrian that was laying in the roadway. Deputies made contact with the driver of the vehicle on scene.

The female pedestrian was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. According to medical staff, the victims are listed in critical but stable condition. The name of the pedestrian will be released once next of kin has been notified.

This collision is still under investigation. Additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
