UPDATE: Death Investigation on Burke Street
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in connection with a death investigation that happened on May 7, 2026.
The US Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force with assistance from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, C.I.T.E Unit, Special Investigation Unit, and Patrol deputies, responded to a residence on Hillcrest Avenue to verify a Crime Stoppers Tip. A search warrant and arrest warrant were successfully executed. Thirty-four-year-old Taylor Thomas was taken into custody. Taylor Thomas was wanted in Bibb County in connection with the death of forty-three-year-old Robert Lee Glover.
Thomas was transported to the Criminal Investigation Division for further investigation. Taylor Thomas was later transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. Taylor Thomas has been charged with Murder. He is currently being held without a bond.

Death Investigation on Burke Street
Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death that occurred in the 1000 block of Burke Street. The call came into the Macon Bibb County Emergency 911 Center just before 1:00a.m. Thursday morning.
Deputies responded to the residence on Burke Street in reference to a person found unresponsive. Upon arrival deputies located a 43-year-old male on the front porch of the residence. The male was pronounced deceased on scene by Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley. The name of the victim will be released once the next of kin has been notified.
Bibb County Sheriff's Office Investigators are actively working this incident. Further details will be released once it becomes available.

Joseph A. Smoot was wanted by the Jones County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals for Superior Court Violations after being originally charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine.

July 14, 2026
On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at approximately 6:00 a.m., the Forsyth Police Department responded to a multi-vehicle collision on southbound Interstate 75 near mile marker 187. Upon arrival, officers identified multiple individuals with injuries and confirmed one fatality resulting from the incident. The Georgia State Patrol is currently assisting with the investigation.
