A federal criminal complaint has been unsealed charging a Jamaican citizen and music artist with illegally possessing firearms and ammunition following an incident in Turner County, Georgia.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Georgia, the defendant, who was in the United States on an O-1B nonimmigrant visa, allegedly fled from deputies before being found in possession of multiple firearms, including a stolen handgun, along with 92 rounds of ammunition.

Federal prosecutors allege the defendant is prohibited from possessing firearms under federal law. If convicted, the charge carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000. A criminal complaint contains allegations only, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

The case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and the Turner County Sheriff’s Office.
