A great initiative for the betterment of all of our communities. It's time for the 2nd Annual Operation Lay It Down!
📆Saturday, November 15, 2025
⏰10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
📍 Perkins Park 105 Mulberry Ct. Warner Robins, GA 31093
Operation Lay It Down is a proactive initiative aimed at reducing gun violence in Houston County. Spearheaded by the Warner Robins Police Department in collaboration with community partners, the program acknowledges the devastating impact that gun violence has on victims, families, and neighborhoods.
This year’s event once again provides heads of households, parents, and responsible adults with an anonymous opportunity to turn in unwanted or found firearms that should not remain in their homes. Recognizing the challenges individuals may face when discovering such weapons, Operation Lay It Down ensures that community members can safely surrender firearms without fear of legal consequences.
“By offering a safe space for our residents to turn in unwanted firearms, we are working to prevent potential tragedies and reduce the number of stolen weapons that can contribute to crime,” said Warner Robins Police Chief Wayne Fisher. “Our mission is to promote safety and awareness while continuing to respect the rights of responsible gun owners.”
Mayor LaRhonda Patrick reaffirmed the city’s commitment to community safety, stating, “Operation Lay It Down represents a vital step in protecting our residents. When we come together to address gun violence directly, we create lasting change and strengthen the safety of our neighborhoods.”
The Warner Robins Police Department will host the anonymous firearm collection event on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Perkins Park in Warner Robins. Law enforcement officials will ensure all surrendered firearms are handled securely, with the added goal of returning any stolen weapons to their rightful owners.
