Correction: Arrest Made in Armed Robbery Investigation

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies have made an arrest in connection with an armed robbery that took place on Second Street near the intersection of Ash Street. The incident was called into the Macon-Bibb E911 center Friday afternoon just before 1:30 p.m. It was reported to deputies that an armed male suspect brandished a firearm and took the victim’s mountain bike. The suspect then immediately fled the scene on the victim’s bike.

Deputies spotted the suspect who dropped the bike and fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit which partially took place on the grounds of Ingram Pye Elementary School, the suspect was apprehended without incident. As a precaution, deputies warned Ingram Pye Elementary to initiate a temporary lockdown as the pursuit took place. During the pursuit deputies observed the suspect was armed. The suspect discarded the firearm before he was taken into custody. The lockdown was lifted when the suspect was apprehended.

Deputies were successfully able to retrieve the firearm used in the robbery. It was discovered the firearm was stolen. The stolen bicycle was successfully recovered and returned to the victim. No one was injured during the incident.

The suspect was identified as eighteen-year-old Timothy Black of Macon. Black was transported to the Criminal Investigation Division for further investigation, then transferred to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
