OFFICE OF THE SHERIFF
BIBB COUNTY, GA.
DAVID J. DAVIS SHERIFF
February 3, 2026
UPDATE: Arrest made in connection with Stolen Vehicle Investigation
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit has made an arrest in connection with a stolen vehicle investigation. The incident occurred at 3:36 p.m., on Gledhill Street near Churchill Street.
An investigator from the Gang Unit spotted a stolen Kia Sportage inside the 3000 block of Gledhill Street. When deputies approached the vehicle to investigate, two males attempted to flee. One armed male suspect was immediately apprehended by deputies after a deputy’s taser was deployed.
The second suspect ran into a wooded area. Deputies pursued the suspect and heard shots fired upon entering the woods. Once inside the woods, the Gang Unit Investigator and other pursuing deputies encountered two males armed with rifles. The armed assailants ignored deputies’ orders to surrender and continued to flee. It is believed these individuals had fired multiple automatic rounds to harm or to intimidate pursuing deputies.
Multiple Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the scene to assist. The Georgia State Patrol and the US Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Taskforce also arrived to assist the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. The armed males were viewed fleeing the area. Moments later, the second suspect was apprehended near Sharon Drive.
The suspect was identified as thirty-four-year-old Rickie Scott Watson. Watson was transported to a local medical facility for a minor injury sustained. The second suspect was identified as seventeen-year-old George Hoza Weaks. Weaks was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. No other injuries were reported. Multiple Firearms have been recovered. Deputies are still investigating the shooting incident in search of additional suspects. There is no imminent threat to the community.
George Weaks has been charged with Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer, Possession of Firearm by Persons under Eighteen, Felony Theft by Receiving Stolen Property and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime. Weaks is currently being held without bond.
Upon Rickie Scott Watson’s release from the medical facility, he was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. Rickie Watson has been charged with Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer, two counts of Felony Theft by Receiving Stolen Property and two counts of Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime. Watson is currently being held without bond.
Bibb County Sheriff David Davis said, “We will be relentless in our hunt for anyone who tries to either harm or intimidate our deputies. Attacks like what happened today will not be tolerated.”
