MEDIA RELEASE: Operation Westside Wakeup

The Bibb County Sherrif’s Office Special Investigation Unit initiated an investigation back in January 2025. The Investigation began from monitoring the jail calls of Akbar Harclerode Sr. after he was arrested and incarcerated in the Bibb County LEC. During this investigation, it was found that Akbar Harclerode Sr. had been conspiring with Kierra Howard (girlfriend) and Hassan Harclerode Sr. (Brother) to distribute Schedule II (K-2) drugs in the Bibb County LEC.

After several months into the investigation, Investigators discovered that there was a connection a Conspiracy the Distribute Illegal Drugs by individuals associated with Macon Mafia Gang in the Macon Area. So, with the help of the Attorney General’s Office and Assistant AG. Ashton Jordan, a Title-3 Investigation (Interception of Electronic Communication) was conducted on one of the individuals. In April 2025, “Operation Westside Wakeup” was initiated involving the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and several other state, local and federal agencies.

During this time period, Investigator from the Special Investigation Unit were able to piece together a large Conspiracy to distribute not only the K-2 product in the jail but a Conspiracy to Traffick Cocaine in the Macon Middle Ga. area.

On May 23, 2025, “Operation Westside Wakeup” came to a head. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigation Unit/ Gangs, ATF, DEA, FBI, SRT and Investigators from Bibb County Property, and Violent Crimes executed search warrants simultaneously at three separate locations in the Macon, Area. The main target Hassan Harclerode Sr. was apprehended on a traffic stop leaving one of the locations. Prior to the conclusion of the case, Investigators determined that Hassan Harclerode Sr. was responsible for the distribution of over 1000 grams of Cocaine/Crack Cocaine. After all search warrants were executed and all locations were secured, several search teams conducted searches. Upon completion of the three search warrants that day, the following items were recovered:

“It is our duty to make all communities a safe place for you and your families,” said ATF Acting Assistant Special Agent in Charge Thomas Crawford. “The safety of the public is at the core of ATF’s mission, and we stand with our law enforcement partners eradicating violent crime from our streets and keeping firearms from the hands of gang members and prohibited persons.”

“We’re working each day to disrupt and dismantle the growing gang networks that are terrorizing our communities, and those who engage in violent crime will be held accountable,” said Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr. “This is exactly why we expanded our team to Macon, and we’re proud to be in this fight with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, GBI, FBI, ATF and DEA. All Georgians deserve to feel safe, and we won’t rest until that’s a reality.”

“The FBI remains committed to working alongside our law enforcement partners to dismantle the criminal networks fueling violence and drug trafficking in our communities,” said Paul Brown, Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta. “Operation ‘Westside Wakeup’ is a strong example of the impact we can have when agencies come together to target organized crime at every level.”

“This operation illustrates how the illicit drug trade reaches from the cell block to the city street. We can be very grateful for the dedicated work of the local, state, and federal investigators in bringing to justice those individuals who work to bring poison into our community.” Sheriff David J. Davis Bibb County Sheriff’s Office

This type of Investigation would be the first Title -3 Investigation that the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has spearheaded and taken on as the lead investigative agency over in 10 years. We are very impressed with the outcome and glad to have success in recovering these illegal drugs off our streets. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office would also like to thank the Attorney General’s Office and Assistant AG Ashton Jordan, ATF, DEA, FBI, GBI and all other agencies that participated and assisted in “Operation Westside Wakeup”.
