Suspect Arrested for Drug Trafficking and Possession
On April 1, 2025 at approximately 1:30 pm, Monroe County Deputies were attempting to serve multiple warrants on John Monroe Barnes, age 34 from Ellenwood, GA at the CVS in Forsyth. Barnes opened fire on the Deputies. Deputies returned fire striking Barnes. He was taken to a Macon Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
This case is currently under investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

UPDATE: Arrest Made in Death Investigation on Hattie Drive
Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigators were advised by Crimestoppers that they received a tip about the whereabouts of a wanted person. On March 27, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., the US Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force followed up on the Crimestoppers tip that led to the arrest of Rickey Terrell Parks Jr. in the area of Flewellyn Drive.
Parks Jr. was wanted in connection to the death investigation of 31-year-old, Kyle Alexander Brown, that occurred on January 26, 2025, in the 3900 block of Hattie Drive.
Rickey Terrell Parks Jr. was escorted by the US Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force into the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. Parks Jr. has been charged with Murder. He is currently being held without bond. ... See MoreSee Less
