On Thursday, July 15, 2021 at approximately 2:38pm, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Butts County Sheriff’s Office in regards to a vehicle pursuit that they were discontinuing due to a small child in the back seat of the vehicle. Butts County advised that the Honda Pilot was entering Monroe County.
A few minutes later, Monroe County Deputies located the vehicle on Highway 42 N and followed the vehicle where the driver, Kimberly Dye, entered the Shell Gas Station. Upon entering the gas station, Deputies boxed the vehicle in. Dye then attempted to leave, hitting a Sheriff’s Office vehicle. After hitting that vehicle, she tried to drive between the gas pumps hitting another vehicle and a gas pump.
The child was quickly secured and Dye was arrested on scene. Dye was transported to Monroe County Hospital for minor injuries. She will be charged with multiple traffic violations, Felony fleeing, Driving on a suspended license, DUI refusal, Obstruction of Law Enforcement, Reckless Conduct x4, Escape, Felony Criminal Damage to Property in the First, Cruelty to children in the second, and more charges will be pending. Dye will also face charges from the Butts County Sheriff’s Office.
