Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Is Asking for Public’s Assistance in Locating a Missing Person

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in helping locate a missing person. Deputies were notified at around 9:58a.m. Saturday morning, that 64-year-old Gwendolyn Harkness- Benjamin went missing after leaving a dentist appointment on Wednesday, August 12, 2020. Mrs. Benjamin lives at an assisted living home in Monroe County. According to family members, who contacted the Bibb Sheriff’s Office, Benjamin suffers from mental health issues and requires medication.

Family members stated that Mrs. Benjamin checked herself out of the Assisted Living home on Wednesday morning. She left at around 6:30a.m. and went to a dentist appointment in Macon. It was reported that when the appointment was over, she refused a ride from the transport service that took her to the appointment and called for a taxi. Family members have a joint checking account with Mrs. Benjamin and stated that transactions show that Benjamin took the taxi to the Macon Inn, located on Riverside Drive on the date of the dentist appointment.

On August 14, 2020, it was reported that Mrs. Benjamin possibly purchased a flight with American Airlines, to Miami, Florida. Investigators are working on following up on these transactions in an attempt to locate Gwendolyn Harkness-Benjamin.

Mrs. Benjamin described as being five foot five inches tall, weighing approximately two hundred and fifty-five pounds. She was last seen wearing a gray shirt and gray pants. A photograph of Mrs. Benjamin is attached to this release.
