The victim has been identified as a white male Edward Lee Knight, 68, of Gwinnett County.

This is still an ongoing investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.

Date – August 3, 2022

On August 2, 2022 at approximately 2:33 p.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a deceased person in the ditch on Highway 341 North between Highway 42 North and Old 341 West. The Department of Transportation was cutting grass in the area when one of their employees discovered the body. The body was a male and later pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Sheldon Mattox.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been requested to assist in this investigation along with other agencies to identify the deceased. The body will be sent to the G.B.I. Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
