Update: Arrests Made in Connection with the Death Investigation of Freddie Crowell

Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested two juveniles in connection with the death investigation of 59-year-old Freddie Crowell. The original incident occurred on June 14, 2022 at the Supa Suds car wash, located at 590 PioNono Avenue. Crowell was pronounced deceased by the Coroner’s Office on July 13, 2022.

Investigators identified a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old juvenile as the suspects involved in connection with Crowell’s death and had a warrant issued for their arrests. Bibb Sheriff’s Investigators took both juveniles in custody, without incident.

Both juveniles are currently being held at the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center, without bond, for the charge of Felony-Murder.

Death Investigation

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office was notified by Coroner Leon Jones that 59-year-old Freddie Crowell was pronounced deceased at 09:58 a.m. at the Atrium Health.

Crowell was shot on June 14, 2022, in the 500 block of Pio Nono Avenue while at a carwash. An autopsy will be scheduled. Next of kin has been notified

Aggravated Assault Investigation

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to an aggravated assault that took place at a car wash, located in the 500 block of Pio Nono Avenue. The incident occurred at around 11:23p.m, Tuesday night.

It was reported that a person was shot at the car wash and walked over to the Macon-Bibb County Fire Station, that was located across the street. The victim was identified as 59-year-old Freddie Crowell. He was transported to the hospital by ambulance for treatment. Crowell was originally listed to be in stable condition. Crowell’s status has since been upgraded to critical, but stable condition.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
