Early this morning, Sergeant Walker responded to a call on New Clinton Road near Sun Valley Drive regarding a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, Sgt. Walker spoke with the victim, a 19 year old male walking with a friend along the roadside, who reported being hit by a passing vehicle. The impact knocked the victim into a ditch and even out of one of his shoes. The driver did not stop and fled the scene.
During the investigation, Sgt. Walker located a side mirror belonging to a Toyota 4Runner. Walker then checked license plate readers for possible matching vehicles and found a Toyota 4 Runner registered to an address nearby. Sgt. Walker located the vehicle at a residence, showing passenger-side damage and a missing mirror. The driver, identified as Giovanni Nunez, was found asleep behind the wheel of the vehicle.
After further investigation, Nunez was taken into custody and charged with DUI, Reckless Driving, Hit & Run, and other related offenses

September 2, 2025 Death Investigation on Jeffersonville Road
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred in a commercial business parking lot on Jeffersonville Road, just before 5:00 p.m., Tuesday morning.
At 4:40 p.m., a call came into the Macon Bibb E-911 Center reporting a male and female had been shot. Deputies responded to the parking lot of Family Dollar located at 3656 Jeffersonville Road and found a fifty-six-year-old female unresponsive, suffering from a gunshot wound in a Nissan Rogue. According to Chief Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley, the victim succumbed to her injuries on scene. Also in the vehicle, they found an additional male suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics arrived on scene and transported the victim to a medical facility for treatment of his injury. He is currently listed in critical condition. No other injuries have been reported. Investigators are on scene working to determine what led up to the shooting. Witnesses reported it could have been due to an altercation as the result of a prior motor vehicle collision.
Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and Jones County Sheriff’s Office deputies are currently in search of a suspect in connection with this incident.
