Fatal Traffic Collision Involving a Pedestrian

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal pedestrian involved collision that occurred in the 5500 block of Hawkinsville Road , just south of Houston Road. The incident occurred at around 10:25p.m.

It was reported that a vehicle was traveling south on Hawkinsville Road, in the far right lane. The driver of the vehicle suddenly saw a male individual walking in her lane of travel and could not avoid a collision with the male.

The male pedestrian , 50-year-old , Richard Lee Vanlandingham was pronounced deceased at the scene. According to the Coroner’s Office, next of kin has been notified. There were no other injuries reported.

This fatal collision is still under investigation. Anyone with information about this collision is urged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.
