| Who funds CRIMESTOPPERS?
Macon Regional Crimestoppers is a community project supported by your donations of money, goods or services. Donations come from private sources, corporations, clubs, professional associations, retailers, civic and social groups, as well as individuals. The gifts from the community are critical to our being able to continue our business model of offering rewards as an enticement to those who may have tips about a crime. All of the staffing resources and virtually all capital purchases employed in the Macon Regional Crimestoppers effort are funded by law enforcement agencies and the U.S. Department of Justice. Rewards, however, are not. As a result of the grants and “in-kind” services we receive, contributions from the community to Macon Regional Crimestoppers are available to a very great extent to be used directly in the payment of rewards to tipsters. Without funds, we cannot pay rewards. Without rewards, we cannot viably function under the Crimestoppers business model. Considering the significant impact in getting criminals off our streets and the large number of cases that have been cleared through the efforts of Macon Regional Crimestoppers, our community can ill-afford to loose our Crimestoppers charter.
